Oceanside CA – On Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 7:35am the Oceanside Police Department received calls of a collision involving a motorcycle and an agricultural truck on North River Road west of Holly Ln. Further information indicated the motorcyclist, a 23 year old male, was not breathing.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene and on arrival determined the motorcyclist had died from his injuries. The collision occurred as both vehicles were westbound on North River Road, east of Sleeping Indian Rd. The agricultural truck was slowing to make a left turn into an agriculture field service road. The motorcycle was behind the agricultural truck as the truck was beginning to negotiate the left turn. The motorcycle ran into the right rear portion of the truck, ejecting the motorcyclist.
The Medical Examiner was notified and the name of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The driver of the agricultural truck was interviewed on scene and released. Based on the preliminary investigation it does not appear that alcohol was a factor in the collision, however, it appears that speed may have been.
The investigation is ongoing. The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call Accident Investigator Yanci Blackwell at (760) 435-4801.
