Oceanside vape and smoke shops were on law enforcement’s radar Thursday, March 12, as city police and regional partners seized more than 100 pounds of items suspected to contain controlled substances, authorities announced.
Shops were targeted by the Oceanside Police Department in coordination with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, DEA Carlsbad Resident Office and the county Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team in compliance checks for the unlawful sale of regulated or controlled substances, according to a police news release.
Investigators seized products suspected of containing psilocybin, THC and kratom. Four people were suspected of violating California regulations and face state penalties and fines, authorities said.
“Vaping devices threaten our public safety. Oftentimes, youth don’t know what is hiding in these devices,” DEA Special Agent in Charge James Nunnallee said in the news release. “DEA is dedicated to keeping the community safe and drug free.”
