The Rhoades School in Encinitas recently appointed a new Lower School principal.
Joshua Henriquez joins the private school with more than eight years of experience in private-school education, a Rhoades representative shared in June. He previously served as associate head of school at BASIS Independent School in San Jose.
In a statement provided to the North Coast Current, Henriquez said his first visit to Rhoades left him impressed by student engagement and what he described as a strong sense of belonging.
“Even as a visitor, I immediately felt welcomed and accepted,” Henriquez said. “As Lower School Principal, I’m not coming in to make sweeping changes. I’m here to support the community, strengthen what already makes The Rhoades School special, and help continue providing an exceptional experience for students and parents because we all share the same goal — helping students succeed.
The school stated that Henriquez has focused during his career on supporting teachers and helping students develop leadership skills.
“I will continue to prioritize the open communication and collaboration Rhoades has cultivated between school and home, and will support the school’s amazing academic community and further our mission to help students build the skills, confidence, and character needed to become thoughtful, engaged citizens,” Henriquez said in his statement.
