Irvine CA— Teen Cookbook Author, Chase Bailey received the highest recognition from the annual Foreword Indies Awards for, “The Official Chase ‘N Yur Face Cookbook.” Foreword Review Magazine awarded Bailey the gold for Author of the Year in the child author 17 and under category. Bailey also received Honorable Mention for Book of the Year in the young adult nonfiction category.
The Foreword Indie Review Awards represent the best books published by small, indie, and university presses, author-owned publishers, and self-publishers. “After Foreword’s top three editors narrowed the entrants down to finalists, our panel of 150 judges, made up of librarians and booksellers chosen for their interest or expertise in their particular field, read every page. The judges’ feedback and ratings brought us our winners, which represent the best books from indie publishing. Being an INDIES winner is no small feat-particularly this year when there was a record number of entries,” said Foreword Reviews INDIES Awards Director, Michele Lonoconus.
Diagnosed with Autism at the age of two, Bailey had severe food aversions, only eating five food items. Watching the Eat St. cooking show on the Cooking Channel with his late grandfather is where food began to make sense for him. Chase’s mother, Mary Bailey, continued the wave of enthusiasm with his YouTube cooking show, aptly named Chase ‘N Yur Face. “Out of all of Chase’s challenges and therapies with Autism, food aversions were the most difficult to address and overcome. For him to go from five food items to becoming an award-winning cookbook author, is nothing short of a miracle,” said Mary Bailey.
The Chase ‘N Yur Face cooking show led to his now award-winning cookbook featuring endorsements from celebrity chefs such as Mario Batali and 10-time Emmy Award winner and proprietor of City Tavern, Chef Walter Staib, provided the cookbook’s foreword with an additional endorsement by New York Times food photographer, Andrew Scrivani. The cookbook is currently sold throughout the U.S.A via Barnes & Noble, Target, Walmart, and Amazon; remaining at best seller status in its categories. In addition, Scholastic Book Club will begin selling the cookbook beginning in the fall.
