North Coast Current earns awards for lagoon coverage, news site

The North Coast Current was recognized for environmental reporting and online excellence by the San Diego Press Club on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

The Current won second place for online news site and site design. Freelance writer Meghan Lanigan won third place environmental reporting under daily and online news for her story “San Elijo Lagoon might appear in jeopardy now, but it’s all part of a plan,” about the ongoing work to improve the lagoon’s habitat. The news site awards were awarded to Roman S. Koenig, who developed the site and maintains it.

Countywide journalism honors were announced during the Press Club’s 45th annual Excellence in Journalism Awards held at the Jacobs Center at Market Creek in San Diego.
