CARLSBAD: Rotary hosts 33rd Oktoberfest Oct. 3

CARLSBAD — The Carlsbad Rotary Clubs invite residents to the 33rd Annual Oktoberfest, presented by ViaSat, on Oct. 3 at Holiday Park from noon to 10 p.m. The event includes music, events and food — from the traditional German meal of bratwurst and sausage with potato salad and sauerkraut to grilled chicken and sides, in addition to apple strudel, kettle corn and cotton candy. DJ Efraim Nunez will kick off the day’s entertainment followed by live bands starting with local performers Faith Page and Bluebirds, and ending with The Last Call. There will also be entertainment and activities for children, including a photo booth, jumpy houses, a pumpkin patch where children can decorate pumpkins, and more. NEW this year is a “Festive Family,” “Fetching Fraulein” and “Masculine Mann” costume contest. More than $1 million has been raised to support the two clubs’ scholarships programs and local charitable organizations. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Ticket price includes one full meal and admission. Free shuttle service every 20 minutes from the southwest corner of Westfield Plaza Camino Real. Local Parking from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Chestnut Park is located at Chestnut and Pio Pico streets in Carlsbad.
