CARLSBAD — Carlsbad Reads Together 2019, a city program throughout March designed to promote community discussion about literacy through a common book selection, marks the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” by reading “The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein” by Kiersten White, a reimagining of the classic story. Two “Meet the Author” events with White are scheduled — March 10, 2-3 p.m., at Schulman Auditorium, 1775 Dove Lane; and March 14, 3:30-4:30 p.m., the Georgina Cole Library Community Room, 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive. Admission is free. Seating is limited and first come, first served. For more information online: www.carlsbadca.gov/CRT.
