Truck collision with tree kills man in Carlsbad

A man was killed when his truck collided with a tree Friday, Oct. 7, in Carlsbad, authorities reported.

Carlsbad police were called to the crash shortly before 7:30 p.m. after they received a report of the collision in the 5700 block of Armada Drive, according to an incident report. The 30-year-old man was found trapped and unconscious in the truck.

The victim, who was not identified, was removed from the vehicle by members of the Carlsbad Fire Department and transported to a local hospital where he later died, the report stated.

Investigators are looking into whether alcohol contributed to the crash, and they seek the public’s help in finding potential witnesses, according to the report.
