A Memorial Day holiday checkpoint conducted by deputies from the Encinitas Sheriff’s Station netted two arrests and 12 citations, according to a Sheriff’s Department report.
Two people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the report states. The checkpoint ran from 8:51 p.m. May 27 through 1:45 a.m. May 28 near the 500 block of North Highway 101 in Solana Beach, and authorities tallied 577 vehicles. Three vehicles were impounded.
The checkpoint was funded in part by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety though the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
