Green Celebration set for Sept. 19

Residents are invited to the Pacific Station Green Celebration on Sept. 19 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Pacific Station in downtown Encinitas, the Downtown Encinitas Mainstreet Association announced.

The event marks efforts in sustainable development in downtown Encinitas, including the LEED Silver certification of Pacific Station, the commissioning of the SDG&E Sustainable Communities Solar installation at Pacific Station, progress toward DEMA’s Megawatt Challenge for downtown Encinitas and a number of other sustainable milestones in the community.  There will be food, displays, music by Adrienne Nims & Spirit Winds and a brief ceremony.

Certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, known as LEED, is given by the U.S. Green Building Council for construction projects that meet certain levels of environmental standards such as use of recycled materials, water use and energy conservation, according to the council’s website.

Pacific Station is located at 687 S. Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas. For more information on the Sept. 19 event, call 760-943-1950.
