Authorities found a man dead from a gunshot wound early March 28 at a Lone Jack Road property in Olivenhain, apparently the result of a residential dispute, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies from the Encinitas Sheriff’s Station responded to a 911 call at 9:06 a.m. regarding what authorities said was an apparent assault with a deadly weapon in the 2900 block of Lone Jack Road, a sheriff’s report states. When deputies arrived, they found the victim, a man who’s identity is being withheld pending a medical examiner’s investigation, with an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived on scene and confirmed the man was dead.

Investigators believe the shooting was apparently the result of a dispute between two men, according to the sheriff’s report. A suspect is in custody, authorities said.
