ENCINITAS — The San Dieguito Heritage Museum features soap-making classes during the month of March as part of its Families Make History program. Homesteaders often made their own soap out of animal fat, wood ashes and water over a large kettle. The museum invites visitors to make their own modern-day glycerine soap and learn about the process of pioneer soap making. The museum is located at 450 Quail Gardens Drive in Encinitas.
