CARDIFF-BY-THE-SEA — The 9th Annual Cardiff Dog Days of Summer, hosted by Cardiff 101 Main Street, returns Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the heart of town at Newcastle Avenue, Aberdeen Drive and Liverpool Drive. Dog Days of Summer is San Diego County’s largest dog-centric event, according to an announcement. The event will include several contests in addition to music performances by Tolan Shaw at 1 p.m. and Trouble in the Wind at 3 p.m. There will also be a Blessing of the Dogs by the Tibetan Meditation Center, more than 200 booths including pet welfare organizations and food vendors, the Lost Abbey beer garden and a silent auction. Free shuttle service will be available at the Encinitas Civic Center, 505 S. Vulcan Ave. Proceeds from the event benefit local animal charities and Cardiff 101 Main Street.
