MiraCosta College invites the public to celebrate the dedication of the Cardiff campus’s new science building at a ribbon-cutting Sept. 2.
The event is set for 7:30 a.m. at the San Elijo Campus, 3333 Manchester Ave. in Cardiff, the college announced. A short dedication ceremony that will include comments by college administrators and faculty will be followed by a ribbon-cutting by the facility’s first students.
The $5.3 million, approximately 4,700-square-foot complex houses chemistry, general and preparation labs, and includes rooms instruments and equipment, according to the college. There is also an outdoor gathering space.
“The new labs enable MiraCosta College to expand the breadth and number of science courses available to students in the southern portion of our district,” Carlos Lopez, dean of mathematics and sciences at MiraCosta College, said in the announcement. “The facility also supports a host of other physical science labs like oceanography and geology.”
Visitors are asked to RSVP by calling public information officer Cheryl Broom at 760-795-6612 or cbroom@miracosta.edu.
