ENCINITAS: Start the year artistically Jan. 16 at Botanic Garden

ENCINITAS — The San Diego Botanic Garden invites the community to two artistic, instructional events Jan. 16. From 9 a.m. to noon, learn the basics of planting a 10-inch-by-20-inch vertical living wall made out of succulents, known as a living wall. Living walls can be used exterior or interior with multitudes of colors, textures and sizes. Cost for members is $30, and $36 for non-members $36. A $70 materials fee per student is also paid directly to the instructor at the class. From 1 to 3 p.m., learn the basics of Zentangle, a method to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns, enhancing one’s focus and sense of well-being. Cost for members is $40 and $48 for non-members. A $10 materials fee is also paid directly to the instructor on the day of the class. More information: Call 760-436-3036.
