July 15, 2016
Authorities are asking the community for help in identifying a 2-year-old boy found wandering alone July 15 at Cottonwood Creek Park in Encinitas.
The boy was found wandering the park, 95 North Vulcan Ave., at about 1:30 p.m., the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported in a community alert. The North Coastal Sheriff’s Station, based in Encinitas, posted the notice seeking the community’s help in identifying the child and finding his parents or guardians.
The boy was found barefoot wearing a black t-shirt and gray camouflage shorts, has curly brown hair, and light brown or hazel eyes.
As of late afternoon, deputies had not been able to find the child’s parents or guardians despite aerial announcements via sheriff’s helicopter, searches of the park, nearby homes, parking lots and hospitals, and assistance of lifeguards at area beaches, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Anyone who recognizes the boy or has information about his parents or guardians is asked to call the Polinsky Children’s Center at 858-514-4600.
