Incumbent leading in by-region San Dieguito school board race

Incumbents also lead in Encinitas Union district contest

Incumbent Maureen “Mo” Muir led Tuesday’s vote for her seat on the San Dieguito Union High School District board in a new by-region voting system, according to county election results as of 10:15 Wednesday morning.

With 53 percent of precincts counted, Muir led Amy Flicker 52.75 percent to 47.25 percent in Area 1, which includes Oak Crest Middle School and Sunset High School in Encinitas.

In Area 3, which includes San Dieguito High School Academy in Encinitas and Earl Warren Middle School in Solana Beach, with 74 percent of precincts reporting, Melisse Mossy was ahead with 52.61 percent of the vote compared with Rhea Stewart at 47.39 percent.

In Area 5, which includes Canyon Crest Academy in Carmel Valley, Kristin Gibson led with 42.83 percent, followed by Cheryl James-Ward at 36.95 percent Lea Wolf at 20.22 percent.

In the Encinitas Union School District, all three incumbents were leading: Marla Strich at 26.03 percent, Emily Andrade at 24.72 percent and Gregg Sonken at 21.85 percent. The three would retain their seats if their leads are maintained. Newcomers Christian Adams and Amy Glancy were behind with 14.18 percent and 13.22 percent respectively.
