Christine Marie Reed passed away unexpectedly at her home on April 27, 2019, in Cardiff.

Chris was born February 8, 1949, and raised in Longport, New Jersey.

She moved to Philadelphia in 1967 to attend Thomas Jefferson University Hospital School of Nursing. Chris worked in various nursing positions, following her graduation, at Jefferson Hospital and in Atlantic City, including as an orthopedic nurse and surgical assistant at the Atlantic Shore Orthopedic Association.

In her younger years, she took up the sport of bodybuilding, highlighted by participation in regional and national competitions in which she won many awards. She also enjoyed competitive basketball.

Chris relocated to Cardiff in 1982 where she held a number of nursing positions — staff, supervisory and administrative — in various outpatient surgery facilities, including Scripps Memorial Hospital, Torrey Pines Orthopedics and Health South Surgery Center, at which she was eventually promoted to area administrator for the Southwest and Hawaii areas.

Her last career move was to work as a surveyor for the California Department of Public Health Licensing and Certification.

Chris is predeceased by her parents, Anna and Tom Read, and niece Kelly Smith.

Chris will be deeply missed by her siblings, Beth (Lolma), John (Barbara), and Tom, nephew Brian (Jennifer), and great nieces, Delaney and Morgan, and her great nephews, Trevor and Braden, as well as her dear friends, Gail, Audrey, Maxine, Rachel, Cindy and many others.
