The southbound onramp to Interstate 5 at Leucadia Boulevard in Encinitas will be closed June 4-7 as work continues on freeway upgrades, the project’s partners announced this week.

The ramp will close at 9 p.m. Friday and will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, according to a June 2 San Diego Association of Governments announcement. Detour signs will be posted.

Ramp closures are expected to continue for the rest of the year between Birmingham Drive in Cardiff north to Palomar Airport Road in Carlsbad, officials announced.

The I-5 improvements are part of Build NCC, a Caltrans and SANDAG $870 million project of freeway, rail and environmental improvements.
