Encinitas community leaders seek nominations for the 2021 Senior Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement awards, the city and Encinitas Rotary Club announced Jan. 27.

Residents can nominate senior citizens for either or both awards from Feb. 1 to March 17.

The annual Senior Citizen of the Year Award recognizes a senior Encinitas resident who showed noteworthy volunteerism, leadership, teaching, mentoring or advocacy in the city over the previous year. The city and Rotary Club cosponsor the event.

Encinitas residents can nominate senior citizens for the Lifetime Achievement Award as well, which is not an annual award. Lifetime Achievement nominations are reserved for those senior residents who show noteworthy acts in previous years, not just 2021, according to a city announcement.

Nominations can be made by completing a form and mailing it to the City of Encinitas, Senior Citizen of Year Award, Parks and Recreation Department, 505 South Vulcan Avenue, Encinitas, CA 92024, or by emailing it to [email protected]. The city is not accepting nomination forms in person this year.

The nomination form, eligibility guidelines and more information are available online at www.encinitasca.gov/recognition.
