A special public meeting has been called for Wednesday, April 6, by the San Diego County Board of Education regarding the status of San Dieguito Union High School District’s electoral boundary map.

An agenda and location were posted by Tuesday afternoon.

The meeting of the County Committee on School District Organization, set for 6 p.m. at the San Dieguito district offices in Encinitas, is part of a process that was started April 4 when the Board of Education board voted to exercise its authority to take over San Dieguito’s mapping process.

San Dieguito missed a Feb. 28 deadline to submit its map amid reported concerns about adhering to the state’s Brown Act meeting law among other issues, which the district’s Board of Trustees attempted to correct at a special meeting March 30 and submit to the county.

Parents and community members in the district have alleged, including in a lawsuit, that proposed map 8 was drawn for political advantage and disenfranchises voters.
