Nominations are open for Encinitas’ 2022 Senior Citizen of the Year Award, sponsored by the city’s Senior Citizen Commission and the Encinitas Rotary Club.

Encinitas residents can name candidates for the award between Feb. 1 and March 16, which looks to honor those community senior citizens who demonstrated noteworthy volunteerism, advocacy and leadership, among other attributes, over the previous year, according to a city announcement.

In addition to the Senior Citizen of the Year Award, the city and Rotary Club seek nominations for a Lifetime Achievement Award, which considers service to the Encinitas community over the years.

Honorees will be celebrated at an Encinitas City Council meeting, and an award plaque will be displayed at the city’s Senior Center. They will also be a guest of honor at an Encinitas Rotary Club meeting and will be invited to be a special guest of the Senior Citizen Commission at the city’s Holiday Parade.

Senior Citizen Commission members are not eligible to make nominations.

The nomination form, eligibility guidelines and other information are available at encinitasca.gov/recognition. Those interested can also contact Encinitas city Recreation Center Manager Christie Goodsell at 760-943-2251 or [email protected].
