Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Fire Department hosted a United States Flag Retirement Ceremony with the Oceanside Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10577 and the Oceanside American Legion Post 146, over Veterans Day weekend. More than 420 flags were collected and folded for retirement.
In accordance with U.S. Code, our country’s flag is retired by fully consuming it in fire until only ashes remain. That was accomplished in a device designed and built by Oceanside firefighters expressly for that purpose.
Assisting in the event were members of Girl Scout Troop 1010 and Cub Scout Pack 752.
Below are some images from the event.
