Oceanside CA— The Filipino-American Cultural Organization (FACO) and the Oceanside Public Library hosted the 18th Annual Filipino Cultural Celebration on Saturday, June 8, 2019.
The theme for this year’s event was “The Filipino Imagination in the Western World: The Myths, the Legends and the Native History,” and a large crowd enjoyed a day full of Philippine folk dancing and music, colorful costumes, special performances from local Filipino-American talents, and delicious Filipino cuisine.
FACO presented a donation of $3,000 to the Oceanside Library and awarded five scholarships to deserving Filipino-American high school seniors in North San Diego County and in the Philippines. The North San Diego County recipients include OHS Valedictorian Allen Edward A. Tordecilla, Kaelin Marie Zablan, Francene A. Villanueva, Gabby Loise V. Decano and Joshua V. Santiago.
