Del Mar CA— This year, the 2015 San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons|VONS, proudly presents the 9th Annual San Diego International Beer Competition & Festival – one of the largest in the country, with more than 960 entries – the most ever – from 11 countries and 23 states. The judging was held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in closed session, April 24-26, 2015.   Gold, Silver and Bronze medals have been awarded and are currently listed on the website at www.sandiegobeerfestival.com. The Best of Show Beer will be announced during Session 3 of the Festival on Saturday, June 20, at 12:30 p.m.
San Diego County breweries won a total of 43 medals out of 132 medals awarded.  The Champion Brewery designation is awarded to the brewery receiving the most combined points overall. San Diego’s own AleSmith Brewing Company was crowned 2015 Champion Brewery for winning an astounding four Gold medals, a record for the competition, besting 200 other breweries from across the globe. AleSmith’s “Barrel-Aged Olde Ale,” “Nut Brown Ale,” “Olde Ale 2015,” and “Old Numbskull” reigned supreme. Other San Diego Gold-winning brews were: “Coral” from Ballast Point Brewing – Little Italy, “Ballast Point Pale Ale” from Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits – Miramar and “Party Pat Stout” from Pizza Port Ocean Beach.
Judged by industry professionals, the competition awards the best of the best. Beers served at the Festival will feature the breweries that participated in the competition. For the entire list of results at the 2015 San Diego International Beer Festival, go to:  www.sandiegobeerfestival.com.

About the San Diego County Fair

The theme for the 2015 San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons|VONS is “A Fair to Remember, A Celebration of World’s Fairs and Balboa Park,” and commemorates the centennial anniversary of the 1915 Panama – California Exposition held in Balboa Park.  The theme unites the largest event in San Diego County, and fourth-largest Fair in North America; with a national historic landmark and San Diego treasure known as Balboa Park.  World’s Fairs have long been a platform for education, culture, technology, food and new inventions.  What do the bicycle, telephone, ice cream cone, mustard, air conditioning and the Ford Mustang all have in common? They were all introduced at a World’s Fair!  The Fair will also demonstrate how agriculture was, and still is, the core of all Fairs and Expositions.  The summer starts here with food, fun and frolic at the 2015 San Diego County Fair!
The Fair will run for 25 days, from Friday, June 5 at 4 p.m. through Sunday, July 5, 2015, and will be closed on Mondays and the first two Tuesdays.  The San Diego County Fair is the largest annual event in San Diego County and one of the top 10 Fairs in the United States and Canada, drawing more than 1.4 million visitors annually.  Admission is $15 for adults; $8 for ages 6-12, and 62 and older; free for ages 5 and younger.  For more information visit www.sdfair.com .
Get the Best Pass Ever season pass for $25 at the Fairgrounds Box Office and online at: www.sdfair.com/bestpassever. The Fair Tripper ticket includes round-trip transportation using the North County Transit District’s COASTER, SPRINTER, and BREEZE plus Fair admission for only $16.  Late night trains north and south every day of the Fair.  Details at: www.sdfair.com/transportation.
