San Diego CA— On October 22, morning’s favorite drink meets happy hour’s hero for a tasting of specialty coffee beers at Bay City Brewing Co. Joined by craft coffee experts from Swell Coffee Co., Ryan Bros. Coffee and OB Beans Coffee Roasters, 45 guests will enjoy an exclusive tasting and revel in the dedication that goes into the craft of both roasting coffee and brewing beer.
“Since our first batch of Coffee Pale Ale, we’ve been using beans from our local roasters. It’s critically important to support small businesses in our community,” says Greg Anderson, co-owner of Bay City Brewing Co. “The October 22 tasting will bring our community together for a taste of the dedication our neighbors put into every bean they roast.”
At 2 p.m., guests will be greeted at Bay City Brewing Co.’s Suite C with a specialty welcome beer. Attendees will take a seat for an introduction into the world of coffee beer by Bay City Brewing Co. Head Brewer Chris West.
Over the following hours, guests will casually sip three eight-ounce pours of the brewery’s collaboration beers – one made from the beans of each roaster present – as well as mingle with West and the roasters in a mixer-style fashion. To further complement the flavors, guests can indulge in three sweet treats from San Diego’s Darling Gourmet Biscotti based: The Muse, The Dreamer and The Vagabond.
For the event, Bay City has teamed up with beverage writer Ryan Lamb of West Coaster and San Diego Beverage Times magazines to showcase leaders in the craft industry. According to Lamb, this tasting provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to interact with the masterminds behind the creations.
“When you order a drink from a coffee shop or a beer from a brewery, you don’t always get to talk to the roaster or the brewer, so you’re one step removed from the story and the passion that went into what’s in your glass,” says Lamb. “This is a special opportunity to peer behind the curtain and talk to the people making the beverages that we enjoy every day, and to learn about their collaborative processes.”
Coffee and beer aficionados can purchase tickets to the tasting here, which will cap at 45 guests. For more information about Bay City Brewing Co.’s brews between the bays, please visit http://baycitybrewingco.com/.
