The Wine Pub Adds Artisanal Pasta Making Classes to the Menu

San Diego CA— Point Loma Village’s favorite wine bar and restaurant just added a new quest to pair with its exquisite wines—pasta-making classes. The Wine Pub’s server and pasta-making pro, Melissa Stoltz, invites residents to connect with the Italian tradition each month with guaranteed leftovers and skills to use for years to come.
Attendees looking to enrich their knack for cooking or searching for a unique date night in San Diego can expect a two-hour class and large batches of pasta to take home with ingredients straight from The Wine Pub’s scratch kitchen. Each class focuses on different types and flavors of pasta—from penne to gnocchi and spaghetti to ravioli. The classes fall on every first and third Sunday of the month.
“We’re a family here and when Melissa expressed her desire to teach pasta classes, I wanted to give her an establishment to make that dream become a reality,” said Owner of The Wine Pub, Sandy Hanshaw. “And who doesn’t love fresh pasta paired with wine and friends?”
Stoltz has a huge appetite for pasta, and luckily for her dream career’s sake, so do San Diegans. Her passions for pasta was born after a day perusing a cooking book collection. After spending months making pasta for her family at home, she was offered a job under Cucina Urbana’s pasta chef. Now, Melissa spends hours each day producing close to 60 pounds of pasta. According to Stoltz, “it’s more about the experience of making pasta, meeting people and sharing a meal.”
Workshop includes one pound of take-home pasta, recipe cards and a light pasta dinner made by chef and instructor. The class is capped at 10 individuals to emphasize the intimacy of the tradition.
This class is perfect for a date night or girl’s night out. Tickets are $65 per single attendee and $100 for a couple. Wine and appetizers are available to purchase, but not included in the ticket price. Those interested to learn the tips and tricks of the pasta-making art can purchase tickets here.
