The Patio Group announces the opening of its North County location, The Patio on 101, in Encinitas today. The new California coastal chic eatery brings Encinitas a new gathering place with a welcoming atmosphere. The Patio on 101 will serve American classic bites with a twist while paying tribute to the community’s traditions of family and fun.
“We aim to be the perfect neighbor and bring new, fresh flavors to the area while respecting the coastal roots and traditions,” said Michael Ground, executive chef of The Patio Group. “The Patio on 101 is an elevated American bistro that will be incorporating local flavors from right here in Encinitas. We want to provide the community with a neighborhood restaurant that all can come to for comfort food, local beers and a place to share with their loved ones and friends. A few dishes the community can look forward to are the fish of the day, ahi poke tacos, cheese boards, our famous brussel sprouts and the Twisted Elvis for something on the sweeter side.”
The Patio on 101 is the go-to spot for the community, offering a kid’s area with games to entertain the young ones and an outdoor lounge serving as the adult play area. The Patio on 101 also has an indoor-outdoor vibe that’s perfect for pets and enjoying the sea air.
The Patio on 101 also offers many workable spaces including two bars. “Himmelberg’s” has a special significance and is named after Joey Himmelberg, the late friend of The Patio Group’s CEO, Gina Champion-Cain. “Himmelberg’s” pays tribute to an old friend while welcoming new ones into the space to create new memories in honor of Joey. Restaurant goers can also enjoy the original smooth citrus “Himmel Brew” unique to this bar and brewed by Mission Brewery.

Naming the bar after my late friend Joey makes this location even more special and I want to welcome everyone in to experience that feeling as we are more than a restaurant, we are a community,” said Gina Champion-Cain, CEO of The Patio Group. “The Patio on 101 also sources everything locally from circulating regional beers on tap to the art on the walls and pottery from local Encinitas artists. The Patio on 101 is a sister location to The Patio Group’s, The Patio on Lamont in Pacific Beach andThe Patio on Goldfinch in Mission Hills. The new location will also include menu items from The Patio Group’s Bao Beach as part of the happy hour and late-night menu.
The Patio on 101 is located 345 S. Coast Hwy 101 Suite B in Encinitas, Calif. and will be open Tuesday through Sunday for weekday lunch, happy hour, dinner, late night and weekend brunch.
