Divers were expected to resume searching a pond at Palomar Mountain State Park on Monday, July 13, as authorities continued efforts to find an Oceanside woman reported missing a week earlier.
California State Parks dive-team members searched the pond Sunday without finding Angelica Brophy, according to an Oceanside Police Department report. Divers from the San Diego Harbor Police Department were expected to assist with the renewed search Monday.
Brophy was reported missing to Oceanside police at about 9:30 p.m. July 6. Investigators began following leads the next day and attempted to locate her cellphone July 8, but the phone was either turned off or had a dead battery, police said.
Investigators determined that Brophy was last known to have been at Harrah’s Resort in Valley Center at about 3:30 p.m. July 6.
Her vehicle was found July 9 in a parking lot at Palomar Mountain State Park, but Brophy was not with it. California State Parks officers and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team conducted searches that evening and during the following two days without locating her.
The searches ran from 7 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. July 9, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 10 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 11, according to police.
Two Facebook pages, Bring Angelica Brophy Home and Bring Angelica Home Facebook page has been established with a call for tips to help find Brophy, an Oceanside mother and nurse. She is 44 years old and is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing black leggings and a gray T-shirt.
