Oceanside CA- (correction)Carlsbad (5-2) got back on track ending a two game losing skid by thoroughly shutting down El Camino (4-4) 30-7. The Wildcats offense struggled all night against a relentless Lancer defense that shut out the Wildcats offense .
Carlsbad got on the board early when Marc Reina blocked a punt, recovered the ball and ran it in for the score. The Lancers scored again when Junior running back, Dylan Rutledge punched it in from three yards out but the PAT went wide right leaving the score 13-0. The Wildcats only score happened on a heads up play by CJ Simmons when he picked up a backwards pass that landed on the turf and ran it in for the score, 13-7 at the half. Carlsbad added 17 more in the second half while frustrating three different Wildcat quarterbacks and shutting down El Camino which falls to 0-2 in league play. Up next for the Wildcats is a trip to Vista (1-7), next Friday.
Oceanside at Ramona
The Pirates (6-2) led Ramona (7-1) 35-0 at the half, scoring 28 points in the second quarter. The showdown between the Mavericks and the Pirates will be for the top spot in. The match-up will be Oceanside’s first home game since September 20th when they beat Poway 61-0. The Pirates went 3-1 in the four road games playing three teams that were un-defeated when the Pirates visited. The Pirates take on La Costa Canyon (6-2, 3-0 in league) for the top spot in the Avacado- West league match-up, 7:00 PM
