Oceanside CA— On Sunday, April 12, 2015, during a routine training event in Oceanside, George Hood set a new personal best and unofficially broke the existing GWR for the plank at 4 hours, 33 minutes. George is the only guy in the world to have exceeded the 4 hour mark twice. George is currently training to reset the GWR for the plank at a sanctioned event on May 30, 2015 at the Junior Seau Amphitheater.

“My first call for time was at 3 hours, 46 minutes when I thought I was only at 2:40 or so…Over the course of almost 5 hours of activity, 1787 calories were expended, 33% of which were “fat calories”, AHR was 102/MHR 13. My record setting event(s) today sent a clear message around the world that the integrity of the plank will not be breached and will be respected for the inherent fitness and cognitive benefits that it represents.” continued George “I am prepared now to reclaim this title with extreme prejudice on May 30th.”
The stage is now set for George to take back the record during the May 30th event. “Training will continue now with a crew and friends committed to my excellence of performance and my well being. It simply cannot be done without them.” said George. He has set up a GoFundMe account to help offset the costs for the World Record sanctioned event at the amphitheater. [Link]
