Hornsby Films to host exclusive preview screening of their new documentary, The Hammer, at Surfside Tap Room during RAAM week 2015
Oceanside CA— The toughest race in the world is about to be seen in a whole new light. Hornsby Films’ new documentary about one rookie cyclists’ attempt to win The Race Across America (RAAM) will screen for the first time on June 14th at Surfside Tap Room in Oceanside, CA.
The film follows renowned adventure-racer, Jason “The Hammer” Lane, during his 2012 RAAM attempt and shines a spotlight on the cyclists’ rookie, but well-meaning crew in a way never before depicted. When The Hammer gets hit, run over, and dragged by a car on day three of the race, the film takes a turn that no one anticipated.
The Hammer film, quite literally, brings the viewer into the driver’s seat of a RAAM follow vehicle. It exposes the friendships, conflicts, perseverance and humility that comes with a 3,000-mile transcontinental bicycle race and getting one man, on a bike, across the country safely in less than 10 days.
Oceanside, CA has been the point of entry for The Race Across America for more than a decade, and once again this year will host RAAM Week 2015 festivities – starting with the Sunday, June 14th showing of The Hammer.
Tickets to the outdoor screening, made possible in part by Starlite Cinemas, are $10 and can be purchased in advance at http://www.thehammerfilm.net or bought on-site the day of the event. Doors will open at 6:30pm with the film starting promptly at 8pm. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Jason “The Hammer” Lane himself, his crew chief and Hornsby Films.
Guests of the screening will also enjoy specials from Lagunitas Brewing Company, local food trucks and other partners.
