Oceanside CA— El Camino High School’s Britt Pursell won the Avocado League West singles tennis championship without losing a game. She beat Carlsbad’s Alexis Mertz in the final, 6-0, 6-0. Pursell ultimately lost in the quarter finals of the CIF championship. Pursell, 14, is just a freshman at El Camino. Pursell went 44-1 on the season, losing only in CIF.
Pursell is currently the number one ranked 14’s player in Southern California as well as a top 16’s player. She is coached by Oceanside tennis legend, Uta Hegberg, who happens to also be her grandmother.
