Niko Magio slips around the left side on a misdirection play to go untouched into the endzone
Oceanside CA— Oceanside won big over the San Marcos Knights and the El Camino Wildcats held on late to beat Torrey Pines as both teams advance to the semi-finals of the CIF San Diego Section, Division I, playoffs.
Oceanside got the first win of the Dave Rodriguez era in the season opener, at San Marcos High School, back in August. Coach Rodriguez’s first playoff win was also at the expense of the Knights.

The Pirates took advantage of San Marcos special teams miscues in the first half to build a 21-0 lead and didn’t look back. Two fumbled snaps on punts and one fumbled fair catch lead to Oceanside touchdowns including Niko Magio strolling in, untouched, from ten-yards out and a beautiful one handed 6-yard touchdown grab by Isiah Paopao with 1:15 left in the half.

The Pirates(7-4, 2-2), in their 30th consecutive playoff appearance, went on to win 41-14 and will host Point Loma(8-3, 3-1) on November 27 in a semi-final match up.
Torrey Pines @ El Camino
El Camino got off to a hot start, early in the season, winning 5 straight including a 28-21 win on the road at Point Loma in the season opener. The Wildcats, lead by a 15-year-old quarterback, Jaden Casey and a 15-year-old running back, Chris Brown, couldn’t get a win in conference play.
Last night they turned it around defeating the Torrey Pines Falcons, 14-10.
Chris Brown accounted for all the Wildcat scoring including a 97-yard sprint down the sidelines for a TD.
Torrey Pines, trailing by four, drove down to the El Camino 6-yard line. The threat ended with a minute left when Caden Kelly’s pass fell incomplete in the end zone after Falcon receiver, Tristen Allesi was it hard by Dreshon Epps and Spencer Katoanga. In a frightening moment, Alessi was motionless on the ground, in the end zone, for several minutes before being able to get up and head to the sidelines with some assistance.
Thanks to a gritty come from behind win by Steele Canyon over Grossmont, the Wildcats will host the Steele Canyon Cougars(8-4,3-2) November 27th in a semi-final match up.
Carlsbad (7-4, 4-0) fell, on the road, to Cathedral Catholic(7-4, 3-2) on a last minute 48-yard field goal, 24-21. La Costa Canyon(7-4, 4-2) was another victim of the Mission Hills Grizzlies(11-0, 4-0) machine, 47-0.
Fallbrook(7-5, 3-1) fell to Mission Bay(9-2, 1-1), 54-28.
