Valley View Casino Arena-San Diego CA— Chris Toth, a former standout at Fallbrook High School is currently in his 3rd year with the San Diego Sockers and known for being one of the best goalkeepers in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) .
In his first year with the Sockers 2013-14, the former Fallbrook Warrior was primarily a backup goalie and finished with a 25-0 record.
This year for the Sockers, Chris Toth is 2nd in Goals against average (3.81), 1st in Save Percentage (.820) and 1st in goals against (34). The stats make Chris Toth the #1 overall goalkeeper in the league at the moment. He is the son of former San Diego Sockers goalie, Zolton Toth.
In the 2011-12 season, Chris Toth set a PASL record for lowest goals against average of 3.23. For the past four seasons, he was the starter for the for the US National Beach Soccer team, winning Golden Gloves for best keeper during the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying and then competing in the Soccer World Cup in Tahiti.
During his spare time Chris enjoys working out, fishing, the beach and spending time with his family.
Chris Toth on his win vs. Soles De Sonora: “This was a team effort. We played hard, solid defense and everyone contributed well after a huge defeat vs the Kansas City Comets last week.”
“Today I felt in tune and had fun out there as I take it as another day,” said Toth. “Last year we went back and fourth with Soul de Sonora and they knocked us out of the playoffs. Tonight was a grudge match. I felt that I have been performing well every game but tonight it showed.”
“In the last 2 goals that I gave up, the first goal there was some traffic in the middle of the net and I had trouble seeing the ball. I didn’t expect to go through.” continued Toth, “For the second goal I made the save and but had the wind knocked out of me and the ball went through. We hung in there for the win.”
In the Sockers 5-2 win over Soles De Sonora, Chris Toth improved his record to 7-2 as goalie and will take on the Tacoma Stars on Friday, February 3rd in Washington.
