San Diego County CA— San Clemente jumped to an early 14 point lead against Oceanside while the Pirate offense could not get on track. Kyrin Beachem provided a spark for the Pirates, from the quarterback position, leading a scoring drive late in the first half but it wasn’t enough as Oceanside fell to the defending State Champs, 28-18. Up next for Oceanside is a game on the road against Morse, a 26-19 winner at Mount Miguel.
In Carlsbad, senior quarterback, Troy Bloomquist threw for six first half touchdowns as the Lancers downed Del Norte, 49-0. Carlsbad will travel to St. Augustine, next week. The Saints were a 51-12 winner over Canyon Springs.
Under the experienced leadership of seniors Jayden Casey, Chris Brown and Malachi Russell, the El Camino Wildcats spoiled the first home opener under the lights at Point Loma defeating the Pointers 34-12. The Wildcats will host the Rancho Bernado Broncos next week. The Broncos lost to Eastlake 21-3.
