San Diego CA— ASC San Diego announced it will expand the city’s professional soccer league through the purchase of a women’s soccer team. ASC San Diego Women will play in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) and will begin their season in Spring of 2019, under the operation of ASC San Diego. The purchase of the team is part of ASC Founder and CEO Noah Gins’ vision to grow soccer in San Diego and create a new model for sports in America. The soccer club is in the process of signing players and will be organizing the team over the next six months.
“We want to represent women’s soccer at the highest level providing San Diego a model women’s franchise and opportunities to every young girl aspiring to be a professional,” said Gins. “Over last three years we have established ASC San Diego as a household name for men’s professional soccer and we feel the women will be able to inspire and promote the game of soccer in San Diego.”
ASC San Diego is the first social enterprise professional sports team in San Diego and one of the only soccer clubs in America to successfully build a “full pyramid” organization—a professional soccer team that sits atop, a premier youth development system in the middle and community programs that form the base. The purchase of the women’s soccer team completes the women’s pyramid for ASC with the Development Academy leading into the WPSL ASC San Diego Professional women’s team.
