Oceanside CA— If you like a high scoring game with a lot of passing, tonight’s game was one not to miss. The El Camino Wildcats got on the board first with Zion Jackson’s 32 yard field goal in the first quarter. The Eastlake Titans struck back quickly scoring on their next two possessions to take a 14-3 lead on touchdown runs by Parker Merrifield, an 18 yarder and Roman Coe’s 16 yarder.
The Wildcats cut the lead to 5 at 14-9 when quarterback Brock Mamber scored on a 66 yard run in the second quarter. Eastlake followed with another touchdown as running back Parker Merrifield, who rushed for 177 yards, scored his second touchdown of the night, a 22 yard sprint, to put the Titans up 22-9.
The Cats came back to cut the lead to 6 at 22-16 when QB Brock Manber, who had 6 completions on 15 attempts for 79 yards with 2 interceptions for touchdowns, threw a 44 yard pass to Joseph Wilkins for the score.
Eastlake responded with a 29 yard field goal by Darius DeLaRosa to go up 25-16.
El Camino came within 2 points on a 3 yard touchdown run by Rance Gardiner (12 carries for 76 yards) making it 25-23 but that is a close as they would get.
The Titans scored the next 3 touchdowns as tailback Ramon Coe (15 carries for 111 yards) scored on a 5 yard run then two pick sixes, one by Max Susi for 14 yards and another by Quinton Johnson for 47 yards put the Titans up 46-23.
El Camino’s final touchdown was scored by Zion Jackson to make the final score 46-31 in favor of the Eastlake Titans.
This game was stopped at 1:57 left in the contest do to some fighting on the football field.
