San Diego CA—The Strike Force have locked in eight defensive linemen as a part of their 2020 IFL preseason roster.
“We have an extremely talented group coming in to compete in our defensive front,” said Strike Force General Manager Ryan Eucker. “One of our points for the season is to control the line of scrimmage and we believe this group can provide us that ability. The mix of veterans along with some extremely versatile first-year players is going to be fun to watch in camp.”
Anthony Pruitt (6-4, 290, Kent State) joins the Strike Force for his third professional indoor season. Last season in Quad Cities, he saw action in eight games and recorded 26 total tackles (17 solos), one sack, 2.5 tackles for loss and had two forced fumbles with two recoveries. During the 2018 season, he saw action in ten games and recorded 16 total tackles, three tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. The Ohio native played his collegiate career at Kent State where he received the Matt Ramser Award his senior season, given to members of the football team who best exemplifies the qualities of “courage, dedications, attitude, and commitment” as Matt did during his fight with cancer.
Manuel Wright Sr (6-7, 335, University of Southern California) comes to San Diego for his first season as a member of the IFL. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the NFL’s supplemental draft in 2005 before spending time with the Buffalo Bills (2007) and then playing for the New York Giants (2007) where he earned himself a ring in Super Bowl XLII. Collegiately at USC, he made an appearance in 20 games recording 31 total tackles, five pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries. The two-time National Champion was awarded the All-Pac10 Honorable Mention for his efforts during his time as a Trojan.
Skye King (6-3, 270, York University) will enter his first season in the IFL after a stint in the Canadian Junior Football League with the Langley Rams where he played in 14 games and received CJFL All-Canadian honors, as well as being named the BCFC Top Defensive Lineman. In 2016, the Canadian native was named on the All-Rookie Team and went on to represent Canada at the 2016 U19 World Junior Championships, where he won a gold medal. He also represented Canada at the U19 International Bowl in Texas the same year.
Kenny Horsley (6-6, 295, Mesabi Range) comes to San Diego for his first season in the IFL. He previously spent time with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and Washington Redskins, as well as, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and the Maine Mammoths of the National Arena League. Collegiately, he recorded 15 sacks and 40 tackles in one season.
Camaron Thomas (6-5, 330, University of North Carolina) will make the switch to indoor football for his first season with the IFL after an eight-year NFL career where he recorded 115 total tackles (83 solos), 7.5 sacks and one interception. Drafted in the fifth round (146^th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers, he went on to see action in 54 games from 2010-2013. He then played for the Pittsburgh Steelers (2014-2015), Los Angeles Rams (2016), and Kansas City Chiefs (2017). Collegiately, he saw action in 46 total games finishing with 83 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, and one touchdown.
In addition, the Strike Force have added Torrodney Prevot, Kris Frost, and Ralph Harvey who will compete as edge rushers in the defensive front and are expected to also take linebacker based reps during training camp.
Prevot (6-3, 250, University of Oregon) joins the Strike Force for his first season in the IFL. As a Duck, he made 40 game appearances and totaled 92 tackles (47 solos) with ten sacks. In 2015, he notched a career-best of nine tackles (five solos) in one game and went on to finish the season with 48 tackles (21 solos) including 7.5 tackles for loss landing him third on the team for TFLs.
Frost (6-3, 240, Auburn University) enters his first season in the IFL after spending time with the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football League (AAF). He also had stints with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, and New England Patriots. Collegiately, he appeared in 40 games over three seasons totaling 242 tackles (128 solos), 3.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, six pass deflections, and three interceptions. In 2014 and 2015 seasons, he was included on the Butkus Award watchlist and voted 2^nd Team Preseason All-SEC and 3^rd Team All-SEC by SEC media and the CFB Matrix in 2015.
Harvey Jr (6-3, 250, University of Houston) returns to the Strike Force lineup after finishing second on the team with 40 tackles (23 solos), 2.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles with recoveries during the 2019 season. Before finishing his career at the University of Houston where he helped the Cougars to a 13-1 record in 2016, the Los Angeles native played collegiately at El Camino College where he totaled 128 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, one sack, and one blocked kick over the 2013 and 2014 season.
The Strike Force’s training camp will kick off February 22. Details and official team schedules, including fan events, will be released in the coming week. Season and group tickets are currently on sale in anticipation of the team’s 2020 home opener on Saturday, March 14 against the Cedar Rapids River Kings at Pechanga Arena San Diego with a 6:05 p.m. PT kickoff.
