Elite skydiver Chris Geiler has claimed the title of Wingsuit Performance World Champion

Oceanside CA— World renowned skydiving champion and United States Parachute Association (USPA) member Chris Geiler has returned from the 2021 FAI World Parachuting Championships in Russia, bringing home a gold medal in wingsuit performance and earning the title of World Champion. The U.S.A. combined national team consisting of Geiler and acclaimed skydivers Joe Ridler and Alexey Galda also won gold in wingsuit performance.

Geiler reclaimed the title after originally being named the FAI World Champion of Performance Wingsuit Flying in the 2016 event, where he smashed the field with more than a 10-point lead. Geiler previously ranked 2nd at the FAI World Wingsuit Flying Championships in Prostejov, Czech Republic, and 3rd at the FAI World Cup of Wingsuit Flying 2019 in Ravenna, Italy.
In wingsuit skydiving, jumpers wear technologically advanced suits that are specially designed to increase their horizontal glide across the ground, allowing them to soar like birds through the sky at horizontal speeds approaching 200 miles per hour. In the performance flying event, individual competitors are scored on their horizontal distance, flight time and speed as they zoom across the sky. Geiler has completed over 8,000 skydives and works locally at GoJump Oceanside.
More than 60 USPA members competed with athletes from over 30 counties in this year’s biennial Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (World Air Sports Federation) World Parachuting Championships-Mondial, with the U.S. taking home 13 medals across all disciplines.
