Carlsbad-based nonprofit Fresh Start Surgical Gifts exceeded its $200,000 fundraising goal during the 27th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic on March 3 and 4 at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, the organization recently announced.

The event, hosted by “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” actor Alfonso Ribeiro, raised $215,000.

“What makes this charity event unique is that 100 percent of all donations will go directly to our medical program,” Fresh Start CEO Shari Brasher said in a news release announcing the fundraiser’s success. “With the community’s support, we are able to continue providing Surgery Weekends throughout the year where children receive free-of-cost surgeries and related healthcare services.”

Proceeds benefit Fresh Start’s mission to help disadvantaged infants, children and teens through repairing physical deformities caused by birth defects, accidents, abuse or disease, according to the announcement.
