Oceanside CA – MainStreet Oceanside Economic Restructuring Committee is collaborating with Visit Oceanside and the City of Oceanside to bring a volunteer driven “Downtown Ambassador” program to Oceanside. The program is going to highlight the City of Oceanside attractions that our tourists and locals can experience. The program is intended to make our downtown visitors feel welcome as they experience and explore the City. The pilot program will commence mid May 2014 from Tuesday – Saturday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., and end in September 2014.
We are looking for highly enthusiastic individuals of all ages to help us promote the City of Oceanside. MainStreet Oceanside will manage the group of volunteer Downtown Ambassadors. The goal is to create a friendly downtown environment by providing great customer service to our downtown visitors. A volunteer ambassador will guide and direct downtown patrons to restaurants, museums, retail shops, public parking, and public transportation as well as provide general event information and answer other questions downtown visitors may have. The Ambassador will also provide information about current and future developments in the downtown and will collect data that is impacting our downtown community.
Volunteers will go through a training orientation on Tuesday, April 29th at 5:00 p.m., at 701 Mission Avenue to learn more about the program details. The Ambassador Program will also give High School students the opportunity to complete their community hours by guiding tourist and locals to our key destinations in our City. We are requesting members of our community to fill out the attached volunteer application and let us know if you have specific availabilities.
If interested in helping improve our City image, please contact Gumaro Escarcega, at 760.754.4512 ext. 102 or Gumaro@mainstreetoceanside.com.
