Cascading Computer Program Helps Local High School Students

Oceanside CA— For the past 12 years, MiraCosta College’s Cascading Computer Program has provided Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas and San Dieguito high schools with used, functioning computers, a program that has saved high schools thousands of dollars.
“MiraCosta College donates computers to public K-12 schools within our college district boundaries that have demonstrated a need and expressed a desire to receive these computers,” said Susan Asato, director of MiraCosta’s Purchasing and Material Management Department.
This year, El Camino High School’s digital arts, photography and general computer skills classes received a donation of 30 Apple iMac computers. Oceanside and Carlsbad high schools have also submitted requests to receive computer donations.
“This is a good example of electronic sustainability, responsible reuse of resources, and a commitment to serving our community,” said Dick Robertson, MiraCosta College interim superintendent/president.
