Oceanside CA—MiraCosta College’s Umoja Community will hold its 2nd annual fundraiser, Soul Fusion, on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in the college’s Concert Hall. The evening will feature a silent auction and a concert combining jazz, gospel, and R & B. Performers for the evening will include David Dredden & Undefeated, vocalist TJ Wilkins, and MiraCosta’s Frequency Vocal Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Matt Falker. Master of ceremonies will be Ant Black.
Umoja, a Kiswahili word meaning unity, is a community and critical resource dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of African-American and other students. The Umoja community seeks to engage, connect, educate, support and encourage students through a curriculum of math, history and personal growth courses to prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities.
Admission is $10 and VIP is $20. VIPs get to attend a special reception with hors d’oeuvres. The silent auction will be held at 4 p.m., and the concert at 5 p.m. The Concert Hall is located at MiraCosta College, Building 2400, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside.
