Carlsbad+Love+It+Conference.

Carlsbad CA— Registration starts Feb. 9 for the City of Carlsbad’s Second Annual Neighborhoods Empowerment Conference – Carlsbad Love It!
Carlsbad Love It! will take place Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. This free half-day conference is for Carlsbad residents interested in strengthening the sense of community in their neighborhoods and city.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Working Together to Build and Sustain Healthy Neighborhoods,” and the conference will help participants:

  • Gain practical skills and tools to work together to build and sustain healthy neighborhoods.
  • Meet others, build new relationships and share ideas around common goals and interests to help achieve Carlsbad’s vision for the future.
  • Learn how other Carlsbad residents are investing their time, energy and talents into the community.
  • The conference focus is on engaging Carlsbad residents, including children, in their community.

“Last year’s conference was a huge success and offered an excellent opportunity for our residents to share stories and learn from each other,” said Debbie Fountain, Housing & Neighborhood Services director. “We hope our program this year will inspire even higher levels of community involvement and neighborhood leadership in Carlsbad.”
The conference will include inspirational speakers and workshops conducted by local leaders. The workshop sessions will feature presentations, discussions and new ideas participants can apply in their neighborhoods, including:

  • Hands-on activity for children focused on the environment and community
  • Ways to conserve water, plan and maintain a drought tolerant landscape, and basic information on composting to help conserve resources
  • Opportunities and ideas for healthy living in Carlsbad
  • How to share skills to benefit neighborhoods and the community
  • Practical tips on how to strengthen and sustain neighborhoods
  • How local youth are contributing to the Carlsbad community and how to support them in their efforts
  • How to be prepared for an emergency or disaster in the home or community

Admission to the conference is free. On-site childcare for potty-trained children up to 12 years old will be provided by the City of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Department. Structured activities for children will be provided while their parents attend the event.
Registration is required for attendance, and participants will be registered on a first come, first served basis for this popular event. Online registration will begin Feb. 9. To sign up, visit www.carlsbadconnect.org and search for “neighborhoods conference” under the “Activities” tab. Attendees are required to sign up for conference workshops and child care at the time of registration.
