‘College for Kids & Youth Academy’ Returns for Five Weeks of Summer Fun

Oceanside CA— Keep your kids busy and learning this summer. At MiraCosta College, children enrolled in the College for Kids & Youth Academy program will get a taste of higher education that will encourage their love of learning. Offered through MiraCosta’s Community Services, the program provides the fun and adventure of taking high-level enrichment and academic classes for children ages 6–17.
Classes planned for this summer include art, Hogwarts, writing, LEGO animation, math, robotics, performing arts, video-game design, and more. Many of the classes offered are STEM oriented to encourage learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math.
Five weeks of courses are scheduled: the first two will be held June 29–July 10 at MiraCosta College’s San Elijo Campus at 3333 Manchester Avenue in Cardiff; and weeks three through five will be held at El Camino High School, 400 Rancho Del Oro Drive in Oceanside. Each of the courses is four or five days, three hours per day. Fees for each course vary, and cost $100–$165 including material fees.
The College for Kids program is for the younger kids and includes supervision in every class. The Youth Academy is for older kids. Class size is 20–25 students. Morning classes run from 9 a.m – noon. Afternoon classes are 1–4 p.m. Sign up for one or multiple sessions. There will be lunch supervision and games for students attending morning and afternoon sessions. Before and after care available from 7:30–9 a.m. and 4–5:30 p.m, for an additional fee per week.
