Del Mar CA— Last year’s event sold out, so people are encouraged to make plans now to attend what is sure to be a much-sought-after Don Diego Scholarship Foundation Peter Frampton and Cheap Trick Dinner and Concert Gala on June 10, 2015 at the San Diego County Fair.
Individual tickets purchased by/on June 1, 2015 are $225 each; on/after June 2, 2015, $250. Ticket packages offering sponsorship recognition are available at several levels. Information and tickets are at www.dondiegoscholarship.org or dondiego@sdfair.com. Gala proceeds benefit the Foundation’s educational programs.
The Gala kicks off at the Fair’s famed Turf Club at 4:30 pm with cocktails and award-winning Taste of the Coast wine sampling. It features a gourmet dinner offering a choice of three delectable entrées, presentation of the Class of 2015 scholarship recipients, an exciting live auction and an opportunity to mingle with a who’s who of San Diego society. The exclusive event culminates with champagne and VIP seating at one of the Fair’s most coveted concerts: Peter Frampton and Cheap Trick.
Tickets include free all-day Preferred Parking, so event-goers can come early and enjoy the Fair. One site to see is the Don Diego Legacy Brick Fountain at the Plaza de Mexico. Legacy bricks are inscribed with the names of scholars and supporters past and present, as well as people commemorating a special person or occasion. Customized bricks can be purchased at any time on the website.
Don Diego Chair Paul Ecke III states, “The theme of the 2015 Fair, which celebrates the centennial of the 1915 Balboa Park Exposition, is ‘A Fair to Remember.’ Being able to enjoy two iconic rock ‘n’ roll legends in one concert will make our Gala doubly memorable. We have much to celebrate this year. We are awarding an unprecedented $41,500 in college scholarships to 13 outstanding San Diego County high school seniors, including an innovative new $2,500 Vocational Education scholarship.”
The Don Diego Scholarship Foundation was named for Don Diego, AKA Tom Hernandez, who served as the Fair’s welcoming goodwill ambassador from 1947-1984. The Foundation has awarded more than $681,500 in college scholarships and grants for agricultural education since its inception in1986. It invites people to make an investment that will pay dividends for students and the entire region.
