Oceanside CA— The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) Annual Pancake Breakfast was held Saturday morning to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend. More than 300 people enjoyed a breakfast of pancakes, fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, and coffee in the clubs gymnasium.
The tables were decorated with centerpieces and place-mats made by club members. Volunteers from local schools along with Marines from the UMM-164 served breakfast that included fresh strawberries from the family farm of Donal Yasukochi, Chairman of the annual Mother’s Day pancake breakfast. “We raised over $20,000 dollars last year with the breakfast.” said Donal who is in his fourth year as Chairman for the event. “All the money raised goes to support the BGCOceanside after school programs including night basketball.”
USMC Corporal Tyson Quiller, who brought 20 Marines to serve breakfast said “This is our first year volunteering for the breakfast. It’s a great way for us to build a better relationship with the community.”
Several sponsorship levels, from $250.00- $1,000.00, included the benefit of having a specially banner displayed on the wall or soccer field at the club for a year.
