“How to Make a SEAL”
Carlsbad CA— Join Happy Hour Politics on Wednesday, May 20th, to meet Ed Hiner, US NAVY SEAL Lt. Cdr, Retired. Ed is a genuine hero of the Global War on Terror. In his 20-year career as a Navy SEAL, he made nine major deployments on five continents, half of which were combat tours. Twice awarded the Bronze Star with “V” for valor and combat leadership, Ed commanded literally hundreds of direct combat missions and low visibility operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, Southeast Asia and Central America.
In addition to his combat tours, at various points Ed led all Basic Underwater Destruction/SEAL instructors, managed all training for West Coast SEAL Teams, and was in charge of all SEAL basic and advanced training.
Born and raised in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, Ed grew up with a thirst for competition and developed an indomitable will to win that would serve him well in his life’s work as a warrior and leader.
Ed is now a coach and consultant specializing in leadership, team building, mental toughness, resiliency, and personal conflict resolution. He believes leaders are only able to unleash the full potential of their team when they first understand and work through their own fears. He recently published, “First, Fast, Fearless: How to Lead Like a Navy SEAL.” Ed resides in La Jolla with his wife, Wendy, and 8 year-old son, Jake.
