Walking 50 miles in 3 days? Yes, I’ve got a few questions.
Carlsbad CA— The National Multiple Sclerosis Society has opened registration for its 2015 Southern California Challenge Walk MS, a three-day, 50-mile fundraising walk, Sept. 25 to 27.
Now in its 14th year, the Challenge Walk will start at Carlsbad’s Flower Fields, continue south along the coastline, and end in Downtown San Diego. The route is 20 miles the first two days, and 10 miles the third day. The minimum donation to walk is $2,500 per person, which includes overnight hotel accommodations, meals and entertainment. The donation minimum for walkers between ages 10 to 16 is $1,500.
The National MS Society will host an “Explore the Challenge” (ETC) meeting from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, at San Diego Marriott Del Mar, 11966 El Camino Real, San Diego. National MS Society officials will answer questions and offer fundraising tips at the ETC meeting. For more information, visit www.MyMSChallenge.com, or call Jennifer West, special events senior director, at (760) 448-8435.
The Challenge Walk has a goal this year of raising $650,000 for MS research and programs and services for Southern Californians living with MS, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that interrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body. About 200 people are expected to walk the 50-mile route. Event organizers said they expect about 80 walkers this year will be people who have been diagnosed with MS.
